Wimbledon 2025 Special: The Parallels Between Tennis and Property

The world’s most famous tennis championship, Wimbledon, has begun. So we thought we’d take a (slightly tongue-in-cheek) look at the surprising parallels between championship tennis and selling or letting a property.

🎾 Before you get started, cut the grass

And make sure everything else is looking its very best too. Unlike Wimbledon, you don’t have to trim your lawn to a precise eight millimetres – but you get the idea. If you’re opening your property up for viewings, presentation is key. First impressions really do count.

⏳ Patience is a must

The longest-ever match at Wimbledon stretched out over three days. (Top marks if you guessed it was John Isner vs Nicolas Mahut in 2010 – clocking in at a whopping 11 hours and 5 minutes!) Selling or letting a home can sometimes feel like it’s taking just as long – but hang in there. The right buyer or tenant is out there.

👀 Keep your eye on the ball

Just like Federer or Djokovic, staying focused is essential. Keep on top of enquiries, viewings, feedback, and paperwork. It helps you respond quickly and keep things moving at pace. With the right agent, it’s a team effort – but your engagement makes a big difference too.

🤯 Sometimes it goes over your head

Whether it’s a tennis ball flying past you or some complicated legal jargon, don’t panic. It’s completely normal to feel overwhelmed at times. That’s where expert support comes in – lean on your agent, solicitor, or broker to explain things clearly.

👯 Playing doubles is a whole lot easier

Doubles tennis is less exhausting than going it alone – and the same goes for property. Having a partner (like a great estate or letting agent!) means you can share the load, get better results, and stay sane in the process.

🏆 Everything begins with good service

In tennis, good service can win you the point. In property, it can win you the sale or let. The quality of service from your agent makes all the difference – from marketing and negotiation to communication and completion. Choose wisely.

Whether you’re serving up a new listing or returning an offer, the property process has more in common with Wimbledon than you might expect.

If we can be of service with your property needs, we’d be delighted to help. Get in touch with us today – and may your favourite player do well this summer.

P.S. The answer to the earlier trivia: John Isner and Nicolas Mahut at Wimbledon 2010 – the match lasted 11 hours and 5 minutes over three days!
